Established in 1977, Crow Canyon Home designs enameled kitchenware and dinnerware that pays homage to centuries past while updating them for the modern American home. It is designed in San Francisco, California and each piece is handmade in much the same way as enamelware was made in the early 1900s, except now with much higher quality materials than what was available back then.
Crow Canyon Home enamelware is where superior design, functionality and eco-consciousness intersect. It is made by forming a sheet of metal into the desired shape, such as a mug, bowl or baking sheet for example. Mugs, pitchers and other items with handles receive an extra handmade touch as artisans solder the metal handle to the body of the piece.
Crow Canyon Home's porcelain enamel is made with traditional methods by color experts, and they use a tried and true recipe to develop each batch using special frit. The metal pieces are dipped into the enamel so each item is fully covered. The base layer of enamel is typically black, and is followed by coats of the desired color enamel, which can be white or almost any hue you can imagine.
From there, artisans may apply one or two final coats of enamel in a contrasting color to achieve the final look. For instance, the Vintage collection gets a couple coats around the rim and the Splatterware collection gets pops of color flicked on with a special brush.
The enamel-coated metal items are run through an oven kiln that is upwards of 1400 degrees F, which is hot enough to cure the enamel for a gorgeous shiny finish, but not hot enough to melt the metal. The result is handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces that are lightweight, ultra-durable, and easy to clean. The materials used for Crow Canyon Home enamelware make it safe for the oven, cooktop, grill, campfire, and dishwasher. Crow Canyon Home makes unique, affordable, versatile and stylish items for your dinner table, kitchen, backyard and beyond.

We think Crow Canyon Home enamelware is the bee's knees, but there are some things you should know. Due to the metal core, enamelware is not suitable for the microwave. Because it's handmade, no two pieces are exactly alike. To us, that is a huge part of its charm, but if you're looking for identical sets achieved with automated machine manufacturing, Crow Canyon Home enamelware probably isn't the right option for you. Colors can vary slightly, even in the same batch. This happens because of the items' location in the kiln and changes in weather conditions, and it's more common with red enamel which can range from tomato to brick. While Crow Canyon Home enamelware is dishwasher-safe, in order to give it the best chance at remaining shiny and free of chips in the enamel, we encourage hand washing with dish soap and a non-abrasive sponge. After washing, dry it promptly paying special attention to water that may have collected under the rolled rim edges.
